Kangqiao is a thriving Pudong family community conveniently located within a half hour drive of central Shanghai. Its central location mean both of the city’s international airports – Hongqiao and Pudong – are with 30 minutes’ drive, making it a very appealing location for expats who travel often.

    With numerous luxury compounds, a fast growing restaurant and café scene, it is also just minutes by Metro or car from the soon-to-open Shanghai Disney. New Metro lines have been built in recent years to accommodate the growth, with the suburb now served by Line 11 and Line 16. Kangqiao is known for its family friendly green spaces and parks, calm pace of life, excellent options for international education, and is especially suitable for families.


    Housing options abound in Kangqiao. High-end villa, townhouse and apartment compounds include The Emerald, Tiziano, Belle Wood, which each have a range of offerings from three to six bedrooms, with extensive indoor and outdoor leisure facilities including swimming pools, tennis courts, playing fields, gymnasiums and gardens. Rents range from 30,000RMB to 120,000RMB per month. Luoshan Oasis and Cambridge Forest Newtown provide less expensive housing options with 3-bedroom villas starting from 11,000RMB per month.

    Health Care

    Kangqiao is well serviced by the nearby medical facilities of Lujiazui and Jinqiao. Because of its close proximity to central Shanghai and Puxi, options are not limited to Pudong with many choosing between services on both sides of the river.

    Good to Know

    The zone enjoys an excellent geographic location, with Nanpu Bridge only 8 km away and People’s Square 10 km away. Shopping options abound and include IKEA, Wanda Plaza, Carrefour and Century Mart. Because the area is newly planned, it offers plenty of green space and the residential compounds are more generously proportioned that those in other parts of the city. Parking is not a problem and traffic generally moves freely. Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong is at the centre of the community, within easy access of all the major residential compounds.

    The much anticipated Disney opening means there has been a good deal of additional interest in this area, with many new Western and Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and entertainment now a feature of the main shopping street, Xiuyan Road.
