Shanghai has traditionally had a strong tradition of theatre, with performances happening all over the city throughout the year.
Although the days of the burlesque types of performance are over, Shanghai still offers much in the way of performance and is a great way to soak up Shanghai Culture.

Often hosting perfomances by the BBC Orchestra, Swan Lake and traditional Chinese Opera, the Shanghai Grand Theatre is the must see venue in town.
Shanghai Culture Square

Shanghai Concert Hall
Close to People's Square, this grand old Concert Hall hosts a lot more Chinese focussed events, but it worth going to see its magnificant interior.
This small venue on Maoming Nan Lu was built in the 1930's and hosts smaller concerts.
